At the very first stanza when we read word we have get the clear idea about Poets Intention that what he wants to described and we find that there is imagination of one lover who imagine his life without his beloved. And uses some Natural element's like "suraj" mens Sun and "koyal" mens "Cuckoos" to show his feelings that how he feels. And describe his pain.
Problems in understanding of lyrics
In this song there is some paradoxical use of language For example "suraj mein aag nahi re" and " koyal mein raag nahi re" so..
1) how it is possible that "there is no fire in the sun"? or "there is no music in a cuckoo’s singing.." or "there is no color in holi, the festival of colors." Scientificaly or Naturaly that things are totaly imposibale.
Though there is Emotive use of language. And also use of personification in such "tere sitam, tere karam
dono lutere lagde ne.."
that mens O my beloved, the pains you afflict, and your benevolences,
both seem to be looters to me..
" mere saare bikhre suron se geet piroti hai tu
O mahiya.."
that means
you stitch songs out of all my lost notes, so
2)How its possible to stitch song ? song which is not even a thing or visual how can even we touch or see that?
so to sum up my view i would like to say that a poet or lyricist use a metaphorical (figurative) language to describe the feelings of lovers and what they feel in the abbsance of each other and do those things which never happens or impossible.
